Objectives:1. Take photos for art connects the world
2. Create a photo that combines parts of photos Research:
I want to put this picture of my friend skateboarding in a different place, and I want to add something resembling speed marks or fire coming from his board. So, I looked for pictures of odd backgrounds and added sparks.

Helped me with how to make the rail and skateboarder blend into the photo. New Photos:Edited photosFinal Product5-Step Critique1. See above image
2. This image has a very surrealistic and hyper feeling. It is an image of my friend grinding on a skateboard near the top right corner. I moved him and the rail into a photo taken from my driveway. I matched the color values in the background to a surrealistic painting with lots of light blue, purple, and amber colors. Then, the background was distorted and it looks wavy and somewhat psychedelic. Finally, I used a reddish color I liked from one of my photos of a light and distorted it to create something of a flame coming from his board. 3. A prominent element of art in this work is shape. This is mostly shown in the skateboarder's motion and shape that bends at cool angles and comes toward the camera. It is also in the background and red streak with waves and very curvy lines. A principle of design that stands out is perspective. The low perspective of the skateboarder's form is combined with the low perspective of the background to create a very interesting photo. People do not usually lie on the ground all the time to view life. An element of art that informed the principle of design emphasis is color. This is used through the very bright and changing colors of the background which contrasts the darker, drabber colors of the skateboarder, which is what one focuses on. 4. The meaning of this photo is to show how nothing else matters when you are focusing on doing something. It also blurs everything but the movement, because that is the important part. The image shows how when you are having fun or doing something cool, the small details don't matter. You can see this through the wavy and unfocused background, which makes the fun part stand out. 5. I think I was mostly successful in conveying this feeling. I used good emphasis and balance. The main thing I could have improved was making more precise background and color choices, to make it more real and give it a more specific feeling to what I wanted. I think the work has a lot of thought put into it and it is very exciting to look at, without being overly detailed. I would definitely display this in my home, but I don't think it is quite gallery quality, just for the reasons mentioned above. |
