Landscape
I was expecting a challenge when taking a landscape and making it fit a noir theme, but as I rode a plane from Phoenix to California, I thought the shadows on the mountains as well as the infrastructure they were towering over fit the theme quite well.
To edit the photo, I focused on amping up the contrast exorbitantly and darkening the shadows further to try and replicate the photos I researched. It was also a hazy photo, probably because it was taken out of a plane window, so I did as much as I could to get rid of this effect. As I went along, the photo's qualities began to remind me more and more of the opening shots from "The Shining," so I went with it and tried to get the same effect, as those shots are very much the kind of style that fits with my theme and the prompt of "landscape."
Here is the finished photo. It's really simple, which I think works for this specific picture. But for future photos I want to have more things going on.
