The image below was the main image that inspired me to start this work. I also wanted to increase depth and intensity of my photo, like the one below, so I researched how.
https://expertphotography.com/how-to-add-depth-to-a-photo/ This helped me give my unedited photo more depth. http://www.techhive.com/article/148013/digital_focus.html This taught me how to make my photo more intense.

These are pictures my friend and I took on top of Riverview. I now know that it was trespassing, as we got a warning from the cops!

5-Step Critique
1. See above 2. In my image I see my friend lying on a metal plate in the top left.. On the bottom of the photo there is a brick wall. He is on the main section of roof and there is another wall on the right of the photo. Behind him there is a drop off. There are 2 leaders which lead your eye into the photo and to my friend. It includes lots of shadows also. You can see me taking the picture in shadow and the ladder's rungs also create a very cool shadow. The 2 tones with my friend resting create a relaxing yet intense feeling. 3. In this photo, the element of art that I worked on most was space. The main way I did this was create lots of varying heights of objects in the picture. There are 5 different heights included. The first is the viewpoint, then the lowest platform, the metal plate, the middle platform, and the ground in the top. These create tons of space and a very interesting way to look at it. The main principle of design in this photo is perspective. Because I was highest up, I could include all of these different heights and interesting parts of the picture. It allowed me to include the ladders and the interesting shadows. My choice of perspective used an irregular view to create interest in the photo. 4. This picture is trying to communicate relaxation in the face of fear. We are at a place that may scare people, a place that isn't normal and is a little scary. Yet, my friend can rest in a very relaxed way in the face of it. It may not be contented relaxation, but its relaxation. The cluttered details in the photo help to create the fiercer feeling. The ladder jutting down and the sharp angles also add to it. Still, when I look at the photo, it is also comforting in its hues and patterns. The artist is also prompting adventure. The picture shows a new and interesting place, and it makes you want to go out and go somewhere. 5. I think this work conveys a lot of feeling and is successful in that it isn't boring in any way, even though it may have been a better decision to take a similar picture in a less risky place. The photo is successful because it uses lots of depth and details to create interest and convey a feeling of relaxation through fear. The quality of the photo is high, but of course things like the colors, space, lighting, and repetition could always be improved. I could especially work on the way I edited it to make it catch the eye more effectively. I think that I would hang this up at home, but it is definitely not ready for a gallery, mostly because it needs less drab editing and harsher details.
