I wanted to capture movement clearly with positioning that looked cool, while doing something interesting. I like how these photos capture the form of the people jumping clearly, while still adding details to the photo.
20 New Photos
I took over 2,000 photos over spring break, so it was really hard to pick what to work on. I chose this one because I liked that it wasn't cliche, and I did something new.

1. See above 2. In this photo, I see lots of layered tan rock going back into the distance. It is split by a small rift with my mom standing in it. The rift snakes back between the multiple layers of rock until it meets the sky. There are 3 other people in the distance, and I am jumping over the rift. There is also some lens flare. I set my camera to manual and tried to make it a little dark so shadows would show as contrast. I then edited the suns glare off of me and evened out colors. Finally, I applied a purple layover. 3. My photo most successfully uses the element of art shape because it has interesting angles on my body and cool curves on the rocks, which make you want to keep looking at the photo. The principle of design that is best used is movement, because the focus of the photo is me moving in the air which gives an action to the photo. The shape informs a viewer of the movement, because from the way I am positioned, you know I am moving. 4. This work shows a cool scene which ignites a feeling of balance in change and movement. For me, the strong positioning makes me feel centered. It makes me want to be active, but also relaxes me. The smooth corners and simple details create the feelings for me. It also comes with a story of adventure. 5. I think this work is somewhat lacking in its photographic elements e.g. it could use more details or lack thereof to make more of a statement and could also be more clear. However, I like how the editing was done and think it improved my photograph. I think in the end, my form, movement, and editing conveyed the feeling well. I would put this in my home and I think it would be worthy of a gallery if I took a more focused and less drab photo.
